Skunk XL is a classic strain which has made the genetic base for a large portion of cannabis strains currently in existence. Originally this strain was created from a combination of Mexican, Afghan, and Colombian land race genetics. This created a 50/50 split of Sativa and Indica which led to an entirely new generation of strains.
Many different seed companies have worked to improve the already impressive attributes of Skunk and Royal Queen Seeds is no different. Over all this strain is relatively easy to grow and to maintain, this combined with the dense bud structure makes it a truly excellent strain for any grower. The effect of this strain is ideal for those who like an instant and powerful mental high with a long and soft full body stone. The taste of the strain is sweet and fruity and extremely pleasant.
This version of Skunk XL is also feminised meaning that it will only grow into female plants. Feminised seeds are extremely popular due to their improved quality and uniformity. In fact 80% of strains which have been feminised have shown improvement in both areas. These seeds can be used by both breeders and growers. However a breeder using these seeds should be experienced in breeding as the process is more difficult than that of using regular seeds. Female plants have to be convinced to release their pollen, the pollen works in much the same was as the male pollen. The resulting seeds will also be feminised. These seeds, however, are primarily aimed at growers who have no plans to breed their own crops.
For these growers the male plants are nothing but a waste of time, money and effort. Since a regular crop will grow into roughly 50% males and 50% females half of the crop is wasted on a grower. Therefore so is around half of the money which they spent on the seeds. Feminised seeds supply the grower with a full crop of productive females.
Skunk XL can be grown indoors or outdoors making it ideal for all types of growers and breeders. Indoors it has a growing time of 7 - 8 weeks, a yield of 600 - 650 g/m2 and grows to a height of 60 - 100 cm. Outdoors it should be harvested in October, has a yield of around 550 - 600 g/plant, and grows to a height of 160 - 200 cm.
