Purple Thai is a native strain from Thailand, known for its ancient origins. It can grow up to 4m tall, with slender leaves and long conic flowers covered in long hairs. There are two phenotypes, one with purple shimmer on the leaves and flowers, and the other with dark green leaves covered in trichomes. Due to the consistent hours of sunshine in Thailand, it is possible to have two harvests per year, although monsoon rains can sometimes hinder this. As a potent sativa, Purple Thai offers strong psychedelic effects, providing a rush of happiness and introspection. With its exotic, fruity, and berry flavor, it is ideal for meditation, yoga, or any creative pursuit. Purple Thai has a high THC content of 24%, achieved through selective breeding. It has a relatively long flowering period of 11-13 weeks and is best harvested at the end of October or beginning of November when grown outdoors. In Northern Europe, it is recommended to cultivate it in greenhouses to protect it from autumn storms and lower temperatures. The flowering phase should begin after 3-4 weeks of vegetative growth. Purple Thai thrives in SCROG and SOG methods, and can be grown in hydro or soil. Lowering the temperature towards the end of the growth cycle can enhance the violet and sometimes even blue hues of the buds. When grown indoors, mature plants reach a height of 80-90 cm and produce heavy buds with a dark purple color and orange hairs. Indoor cultivation can yield over 500g per square meter, while outdoor growing can result in yields up to 1kg per plant, depending on the specific conditions. Purple Thai is particularly well-suited for use in the morning and can help with various ailments such as stress, depression, and loss of appetite.
