Cannabis Strains With Pop Culture Names

One of the most enjoyable parts of the cannabis community is how they name the strains. There are so many fantastic names out there that it really has to be broken down into categories to fit into one article. I’m pretty sure there is one in the archives covering some of the overall best cannabis strain names. So, with that in mind, let’s have a little look at some of the best pop culture cannabis names out there. Funnily enough, a lot of them have to do with sci-fi reminding us that at heart a lot of breeders are just sweet science nerds. Here are all the finest cannabis strains with pop culture names.

Sleepy Yoda

This lovely strain is, of course, a reference to Star Wars. Actually there are a lot of strains named after Star Wars characters, films and other references. This is likely because most of these breeders grew up with Star Wars being a massive influence on their lives. It was one of the biggest film franchises of the 70s and 80s. Sleepy Yoda is one of the many Yoda strains available but it’s probably my favourite hence it getting on the list. It has a powerful, sleepy and relaxing effect that makes it fantastic for a cosy night in. It is also often given to patients who are suffering from insomnia or other sleep issues such as night terrors. Sleepy Yoda has a high THC level of 18% so most smokers won’t need a whole lot to knock them out. This strain is a mixture of White Yoda and Northern Lights so it has one of the finest genetic backgrounds for full relaxation. If you have had a long day or want to just chill out on the weekend this is the strain. Sleepy Yoda has a flowering time of 60 – 65 days and can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

Duke Nukem

Let’s keep things nerdy with classic videogame character Duke Nukem. Some of you may recall this 90s video game that has had a few revamps and I believe a film. Duke Nukem, also the name of the video game series, is just an all round badass. He’s over the top, rather rude and does a lot of alien murdering which is always fun. This strain definitely lives up to its namesake with its awesomely creative with touches of happiness and a healthy dose of giggles. The THC content can easily hit 20% making it pretty powerful and a great strain for experienced users. Duke Nukem is mostly Sativa so really a great game for playing video games with friends. This strain has a slightly longer flowering time of 9 – 11 weeks but it is definitely worth the wait.

Monster Bruce Banner

Ok, there is a very good chance that this list is going to be mostly nerdy pop culture, but I’m fine with that. Obviously, this strain is named after Bruce Banner, otherwise known as The Incredible Hulk. This character is part of the Marvel Universe and most recently has been a huge part of the Avengers film series. Of course, there have been a few Hulk films, some better than others. There have also been tonnes of comics, cross overs, and all sorts of other fun bits and pieces. This strain earns the title of monster with its amazing THC and impressive yields. Monster Bruce Banner has a whopping THC level of 25% and it will definitely knock you on your butt if you’re not careful. The effect is a strong and physical full-body stone. Amazing for relaxing at the end of the day, dealing with body pain, or getting off to sleep. Despite being extremely relaxing she is Sativa dominant. This strain has a flowering time of 63 days and will grow well indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

Wonder Woman

Time to wander over into the other famous comic book world, DC. Wonder Woman is one of the most famous superheroes going alongside Super Man and Bat Man. An Amazonian goddess with a lasso of truth and an invisible aeroplane. I have to admit I’ve never been a big DC gal myself but this strain definitely fits in with the vibe we’ve been following for the rest of this article. This strain is famous for its euphoric and long-lasting effect that melds perfectly with a chilled out happiness. It has a pretty impressive CBD level of 1 – 5% which makes it ideal for anyone who needs a little medicinal help. She is a balance of Indica and Sativa which keeps the effect lovely and even, ideal for almost any situation. As far as her medicinal uses go she is mostly recommended to those suffering from anxiety, depression, insomnia or stress. Non medicinally she is just one of the best ways that you can end a stressful day. Wonder Woman has a flowering time of 8 – 10 weeks and can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

The Doctor

The final strain in what should have been “Cannabis Strains with Nerdy Names” is The Doctor. A reference to Doctor Who, one of the longest-running franchises on TV and much loved by nerds all over the world. Again not a personal favourite, though thanks to a previous partner I have seen every single episode and funnily I think it would have been more fun to watch high. That being said some of the Doctors have been incredible as have some specific episodes. The Doctor is a strong Indica strain with a strong body sedative effect. Medicinally it is perfect for pain and insomnia. Recreationally it is fantastic for just passing out on the couch, maybe to one of the more bizarre Dr Who seasons. The Doctor has a THC level of around 18% so it is powerful but won’t destroy you. This strain has a flowering time of just 8 weeks and is great for growing indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.
