Best Strains For New Years Eve

Now that we have survived Christmas it’s time to start thinking about the other potentially terrifying holiday, New Year’s Eve. Much like Christmas, this night can mean different things to different people. Maybe you’re extremely excited to get wasted and scamper about with your best buds, lightning of fireworks and screaming Auld Lang Syne at the top of your lungs. Maybe you’re hyper anxious and dread the pressure the evening puts on you to have a good time even though you hate crowds, noise and other people. Maybe you are one of the unlucky few who has to work on New Year’s Day so you’re just trying to get a good night’s sleep through the hooting and hollering of the celebrating masses. Whoever you are this New Year’s Eve, there will be a strain to suit you perfectly.

Laughing Buddha

This strain is an absolute classic for party animals. Honestly, this year it’s more likely that you’ll be attending an indoor party of some kind due to the new variant. This is the perfect house party strain because it’s happy, energetic and fun. No chance that it will put you or your guests into a premature coma before the big countdown. This strain doesn’t just have an uplifting effect, it also has an amazingly mouth wateringly fruity aroma and flavour. It hails from Thai and Jamaican genetics which is partly why it’s THC level usually reaches around 22%. Maybe don’t go overboard on this boy, especially if you and your guests aren’t heavy smokers. This strain is also an award winner and took 3rd at the 2003 Cannabis Cup. Laughing Buddha has a flowering time of 70 -75 days and can be grown indoors or in a greenhouse.

Chronic Haze

This is another popular party strain due to its energetic and long-lasting effects. Chronic Haze can be hit at the start of the night and still have you going come the bells. Unsurprisingly this strain is a combination of Chronic and Haze, two exceptional strains. The THC sits at around 20% so it is decently strong. Another one that you should maybe keep an eye on if you are also drinking. Some people do get a sense of mild paranoia when they smoke too much of this strain so probably don’t go overboard. This strain has a flowering time of 60 – 70 days and can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

Widow Remedy

If, like me,  you are a slightly anxious party goer then you might enjoy something that will lower your general fight or flight reflex. This strain is calming, relaxing and soothing without being soporific. It is a Sativa dominant strain so you’ll stay in the party mood, you might just not be quite so terrified of everything all night. Widow Remedy is a combination of Tijuana and Kerala genetics with a little Afghani thrown in for good measure. Medicinally it is usually used by those suffering from pain, nausea or anxiety. This strain is also great for anyone who’s experiencing a bit of end of year depression that threatens to spoil their evening. This strain has a flowering time of 55 – 65 day and can be grown indoors or outdoors.

Cherry Pie

This strain is great for anyone who really wants to be part of the festivities but just feels a bit sideways when things get busy. Cherry Pie is calming and relaxing but also very uplifting. All the anxiety and nervous energy will melt away to be replaced by a genuine urge to enjoy yourself. Cherry Pie is chock full of amazing genetic material including Cherry AK, Purple Punch, Kush and Skunk. This is another medicinal strain that is used by those with anxiety disorders as well as a variety of other issues so you know it’ll do the job no matter how bad you feel beforehand. This strain is also well known for stimulating creativity and productivity, so if you have stuff to get finished up before you go anywhere it can work in a few different capacities. Cherry Pie has a flowering time of 56 – 70 days and can be grown indoors or outdoors.

Hindu Kush

Are you one of those poor people who has to work as usual on New Year’s Day? Many of us forget that there are quite a few out there who don’t get both Christmas and the New Year Off. Maybe you are going to have to go to work in a busy pub or restaurant tomorrow but you happen to live right above a main street? In that case, you could benefit from something like Hindu Kush. A relaxing and calming full body strain that will have you dead to the world in no time. Luckily this is also a medicinal strain that deals well with nausea, pain and stress. I can be pretty sure that you’re stressed. This is a great bath strain with its earthy, woody scent that almost smells like incense. This is the strain for those who just need help relaxing before bed so they can sleep well rather than being completely sedated. It has a short flowering time of 45 – 50 days and can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

Northern Lights

This strain is nothing short of a legend and for good reason. If you haven’t heard of her before then I’m not sure where you’ve been living, but she is definitely the ‘hail mary’ of sleep strains. If you’re stressed, a light sleeper, in pain, anxious, whatever might be stopping you sleeping through New Year’s Eve then Northern Lights can help. This is another powerfully relaxing and full body high with an uplifting twist that will make you feel like all’s right with the world. Her THC level is only 14% so she won’t plague you with active dreams. Northern Lights comes highly recommended as a medicinal strain, especially for those suffering from insomnia. No matter what is going on outside, no drunken screaming will wake you from your restful slumber. This strain has a flowering time of 9 – 10 weeks and can be grown indoors or outdoors.
