Weed can be there for us in all times of life, good and bad. Often in the bad times it can be a real support to us. Obviously, using any kind of mind-altering substance as a crutch during heartache isn’t super healthy, but realistically it does help in the short term. If you do want to try and erase that certain someone from your mind temporarily you should be careful which strains you use. The last thing we want is to accidentally smoke something too depressing, too anxiety-inducing, or anything that knocks out the body but lets your mind run wild. If you do need a little help dealing with a broken heart, these are some of the strains to count on.

Wedding Cake

I understand this one doesn’t have the best name, especially if you were engaged or married, but hear me out. Wedding Cake was created by crossing Cherrie Pie and Girl Scout Cookies. She has an amazing effect for chasing away the post-relationship blues. The effect is uplifting, relaxing, stimulating, happy and motivating. Medicinally this strain is usually suggested for those who are suffering from depression, insomnia, lack of appetite, stress and anxiety all of which tend to pop up post-breakup. The THC level is usually around 19%, perfect for when you want something a little stronger. The flavour is just as comforting and exciting as the effect. A combination earth and sweetness with a deep touch of vanilla. This strain is ideal if you want to just forget about everything and watch a funny film, it definitely enhances the giggles. Wedding Cake has a flowering time of 50 – 55 days and can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

Sour Diesel

This medium – high potency strain is another lovely uplifting and happy strain that will help you distract yourself from the pain. It isn’t quite as silly and giggly as Wedding Cake but is relaxingly happy and uplifting with a powerful physical effect. Have a friend over, have a smoke and make dinner together or watch some Netflix. This is a great strain for just chilling out and trying to get back to a feeling of normalcy. Sour Diesel is great for depression and stress which can also just make getting through the day a little easier. Sour Diesel was created by combining Original Diesel with a mix of Northern Light, Shiva and Hawaiian. Her THC level usually sits at around 19% so quite strong so try not to overdo it. Nothing messes up a good vibe like over indulging. She has a flowering time of 10 – 11 weeks and can be grown indoors or outdoors.

Chocolate Kush

If you just want to wallow on the couch watching crap and not feeling anything this is the perfect strain. Chocolate Kush has a hard core relaxing and physical stone with a high THC level of 22%. This strain was created by combining Chocolate Afghan and Sensi Star. This strain is Sativa dominant just like the previous strains, but definitely with more of an Indica push. The aroma is a pleasant and mellow combination of sandalwood and incense with a beautiful earthiness behind it. If you go easy on this lady or have a high tolerance she is perfect for having a little meditate or maybe a bath. Perhaps a nice yoga session to just clear the mind and try to work through some of the relationship grief. Chocolate Kush will only take 55 – 60 days to flower and can be grown indoors or outdoors.

Cinex

This strain is another potent Sativa with a slightly more social, talkative vibe. It not only ups the desire to chat but is relaxing and uplifting at the same time. If you are struggling to get out of the house and see friends Cinex may be able to give you the push you need. This strain was made from a Cinex female clone and a male that is a combination of Cinderalla 99 Pineapple and Vortex. This strain is one for those who usually deal with grief by lying in bed and eating snacks. It can be almost impossible to get back to normal life but Cinex can improve your mood as well as giving you a genuine desire to have some fun. Cinex was the result of accidental pollination, but the results speak for themselves. She has a flowering time of 50 – 60 days and she will grow well indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

Lemon OG Kush

Lemon OG Kush is a perfectly balanced hybrid of Indica and Sativa. For those days where you just want to put on your comfiest clothes, take a blanket to the couch and binge a show while eating your favourite snacks. Lemon Kush gives you that comfortable couch-lock that makes lounging perfect, but is also uplifting and relaxing so we can avoid depressed wallowing. This strain is a cross between Lemon Skunk and The OG#18. The Indica and Sativa parents come together in a way that is both comfortable and happy. It won’t knock you out but it will help you have a full nap on the couch under a fluffy blanket. The aroma is of sharp citrus, just like the lemon parent. Medicinally she is usually used for nausea, depression, migraines and lack of appetite. She has a flowering time of 56 – 63 days and can be grown indoors or outdoors.

Laughing Buddha

This award-winning strain is just energy in a plant. One of the largest issues after a breakup is depression or just losing the will to do anything. It’s important to get back out there and live your life, even without that person. Laughing Buddha is perfect for just getting up the energy to go for a walk, see friends, work on a project or whatever you like. The THC level is 22% so she can be pretty darn powerful. She smells of exotic fruit and was created by combining Thai and Jamaican genetics. This strain has a flowering time of 70 – 75 days and can be grown indoors or in a greenhouse.
