It’s no secret that some strains are much easier to grow than others. This doesn’t mean that they are of lower quality or that the yields won’t be as good. Usually, these strains are just a little less picky about their environments. Just getting seeds to germinate can be tricky, if we then have to deal with extremely specific levels of humidity, temperature, light and nutrients it can become overwhelming. Several strains have been designed specifically for beginners. They tend to be a little more robust and can survive in a variety of environments. It may help to go for autoflowering, feminised or both to make things as simple as possible for the first crop. Not all beginner growers are beginner smokers, but some may be, so there will also be a mix of strengths and THC levels. So the following list is comprised of a variety of beginners strains, all of which are easy to grow and still give fantastic results.
Stress Killer Automatic Feminised
This particular strain is fantastic for first time medicinal growers. She is high CBD and low THC, the CBD level being around 5% and up with a THC level of just 11%. She was created by combining Lemon Shining Silver Haze, Juanita La Lagrimosa and a Ruderalis strain. Her effect is light, focused and clear with an uplifting touch. The high is subtle and soft which is ideal for beginner smokers and medicinal users. Also for anyone who just needs a little bit of help getting things done around the house. She is extremely easy to grow since the plants will flower on their own and growers won’t need to deal with male plants. They are slightly smaller than other plants, which can be good for limited growing spaces, Even though they are small they still produce fantastic yields. This strain is capable of growing indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse and has a flowering time of 11 weeks.
This is another strain that is great for beginner growers and beginner smokers. This may not be the perfect first crop strain as it is regular. This means she is good for beginners who are looking to practice initiating the flowering stage. Pennywise is also known for the ridiculously high level of CBD which can get up to 13%, higher than the THC level. This makes her fantastic for anyone who isn’t used to smoking and wants something a little more therapeutic. Medicinally this strain can be used by anyone suffering from PTSD, epilepsy, neurological disorders, arthritis, stress, anxiety or depression. This strain was created by combining two fantastic strains, Jack the Ripper and Harlequin. She can be grown indoors or outdoors and has a flowering time of 60 – 67 days.
Haze Berry Automatic Feminised
This Sativa dominant strain is ideal for growers who have a little more smoking experience. She has a THC level of 13% but she is extremely uplifting and cerebral, producing comfortable happiness and generally stimulating the brain. The psychoactive effects of this strain are nice and subtle which makes them easy to manage. This is a great strain for anyone who struggles with anxiety or depression. The scent and flavour of Haze Berry are a mix of sweet fruit and pungent delicious haze. She was created by combining Haze Berry and Blueberry Auto. The autoflowering aspect of the strain makes her great for growers who are just getting started and may not be great with light cycles yet.
This strain is a little stronger still with a THC level of around 18%. Lemon Haze is a delicious classic that is easy to grow and fast flowering. It was created by combining Pakistani, Chemdawg #4 and Lemon Thai that have been crossed with a California Sour Strain. The California Sour brought in the amazing Mexican Sativa and Afghani genetics into the mix. The resulting plant is fantastically potent in odour and flavour with a strong but steady effect that builds into a mental and physical relaxation that is somehow still active. Since this strain is chock full of landrace genetics it is extremely reliable and robust, making it much easier to grow than more delicate strains. In 2010 it was rated in the top 10 strains at the Emerald Cup and so can be relied upon to produce impressive, top-quality buds. She has a flowering time of just 9 – 10 weeks and is also autoflowering and feminised for extra ease of growing. She is versatile and can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.
BlackJack FAST Version Feminised
This strain is the most potent by far with a THC level of up to 21%. This strain is great for beginners because it is super fast flowering, meaning that new growers can see the fruits of their experimentation faster than usual. It is also a combination of Jack Herer and S.A.D Auto. Jack Herer is one of the worlds most popular and most famous strains, and its fantastic genetics can be seen in BlackJack. The plants themselves have strong lateral branches and the thick layer of THC resin of the parent plants. It can also thrive in a variety of growing environments, making it resilient and strong, ideal for new growers. The effect of the strain is invigorating and clear-headed, making it amazing for daytime use. It is perfect for socialising, getting things done or finishing a project. It is completely lacking in any kind of anxiety or come down and so makes an equally good medicinal strain. The high is also long-lasting which makes the strain generally better value for money. This is one of the best strains for those who have been smoking for a while but are just learning to grow. The scent is a combination of sweetness and citrus making it light, refreshing and delicious. She has a short flowering time of just 49 – 56 days, so growers may manage more than one crop per season. Since she is so resilient she will do well indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.
