Cooking With Cannabis Summer Recipes

It’s been insanely hot in the UK recently, like ridiculously for a British summer. Smoking and summer are pretty much a package deal, but why not combine your cannabis with a yummy light summer recipe. There are so many great ways to enjoy weed and now you can combine cannabis with a wide variety of warm-weather treats. Whether you want something for a picnic or just a nice cooling snack to enjoy in the garden we have a recipe that will suit you down to the ground.

Weed Ice Lollies

If we are looking at summer recipes obviously we have to factor in something icy and delicious. For this recipe, you’ll need a THC tincture which you can either buy or make yourself.

How To Make A Tincture

To make your own you will need weed, high proof alcohol, a glass jar and a cheesecloth. As you usually would making anything cannabis relateable and edible you need to decarboxylate your weed in the oven. This activates the psychoactive aspects of the cannabis so it will release the THC into the alcohol. Once you take your weed out of the oven, pop it in a jar that seals tightly, add the alcohol and pop it in a cool dark place like a cupboard. Make sure you give it a real good shake before storing it. It only needs a few hours to be usable, but if you want a really great end product you should leave it for weeks. Shake it every day to make sure the weed doesn’t settle in the bottom for too long. When it’s done use the cheesecloth to strain all of the weed bits out over a large container. It’s always a good idea to double strain it to ensure maximum smoothness. Separate it into dark glass dropper bottles and voila, you’re ready to go.

For your ice lollies, you need whichever flavour you’d like to use, your tincture, sticks and ice lolly moulds. Literally, that’s it, just like making regular ice lollies but with around 2 drops of tincture added to the juice. Probably don’t add too much if your tincture is alcohol-based because it may mess up the freezing process.

Weed Milkshake

I don’t know about you lot but I love nothing more than a milkshake on a hot day. Especially with plenty of ice cream. For this recipe, you will need to make some cannamilk. Yup, you can basically make anything with decarboxylated cannabis.

Cannamilk

All you need for this recipe is weed and milk, so simple! As per usual you want to decarboxylate your cannabis. Then pop your weed into a saucepan on a low burn along with your milk. You may want a thermometer to track the temperature of the milk as we need it to scald. You want the milk to get slightly over 100 degrees C. The tricky part is keeping it that temp for about 45 minutes to extract the cannabinoids. When it’s done take it off the hob and let it cool down. Just like with the tincture you then want to pour it through cheesecloth a couple of times to get rid of all the little weed pieces.

Ok, just like the last one this isn’t really a recipe. Use your cannamilk as a base and add any ice cream you like! My favourite is mint choc chip but I’m not going to tell you what to eat. Unless you want to take my advice. In which case use mint choc chip. Pop it all in a blender, blend it up, drink it with a tiny umbrella under the sun.

Cannabis Smoothie

Here we have an option for all the health-conscious stoners out there. This protein-filled smoothie is a great way to cool down after a summer workout. This is another one that you can just use the tincture for since it took you so long to make.

Recipe

2 Cups of Spinach

1 Tbsp of Protein Powder

1 Banana

1 Cup Milk (if you like you can use your cannamilk)

1 Tbsp of Peanut Butter (or whatever nut butter works for you)

As much of your THC tincture as you would normally use.

Once again we are just going to jam everything into a blender and massacre it. Blend until it’s lovely and smooth then drink it up you healthy buddy.

Chai Latte Cannabis Cupcakes

Everyone loves a cupcake no matter what time of year it is. But, in a slightly summery twist, we are going to go for that lovely bright chai flavour. These are also a great option because the cannabis lives in the buttercream on top of the cake, not in the cake itself. Often this can make the baking process far easier.

You will need to make cannabutter for this recipe and if you don’t know how I’ll give you a very quick rundown. It’s similar to the milk one in which you carboxylate the weed, pop it in a jar with the butter, place that into cold water on the stove and slowly heat. Boil for 2 to 3 hours, strain it through a cheesecloth, let it cool and you have your cannabutter.

Since the cannabis only goes in the buttercream we will just look at how to make that. The sponge recipe you can get from essentially any baking book or website.

Recipe

1 ½ Cups of Cannabutter

2 Tsp of Chai Mix

1 Pinch of Salt

¼ Cup of Heavy Cream

5 Cups of Confectioners Sugar

1 Tsp Vanilla Extract

For making the buttercream you’ll need either a handheld mixer or a stand mixer. Hand mixing won’t get the right creamy texture without a ridiculous amount of effort. Ideally, you want paddle attachments so the mixture doesn’t froth up but instead gets all creamy. First, you want to just mix the soft cannabutter for a few minutes till it takes on a smooth and creamy texture. Then you can add in the rest of the ingredients and continue to mix, slowly bringing everything together into a delicious chai buttercream. Now you can put this on whatever kind of sponge you like! Also great for use in cakes.
