Zkittlez, also often spelled as Skittlez or Skittles is originally a popular USA cannabis strain, well known for its unique fruity and sweet, candy-like flavors and aromas. Strain has been winning awards and cups ever since it entered the cannabis scene in 2015 and has since found its way into many seedbank’s inventories around the world.
Originally a cross between Grape Ape and Grapefruit, coming from legendary breeders from Northern California, Zkittlez, like the candy from which it borrowed its name, provides users with a taste of rainbow. Along with sweet and tropical flavors plants often display a variety of stunning colors, ranging from green to purple with vibrant and bright orange hairs sprinkled throughout.
Due to its legendary status and unique flavors and aromas Zkittlez has found a way into many different cannabis crosses and hybrids. We’ve selected some of the most interesting, both Sativa and Indica-dominant, that will suit everyone’s preferences.
Zkittlez OG Auto is one of tastiest autoflowering strains from Barney’s Farm. By crossing the award winning, terpene loaded Zkittles with highly potent OG Kush and extremely resilient Ruderalis to give it its autoflowering trait, they’ve created this marvelous and tasty strain. Yield is usually around 400-600g/m2 or 60-180g per plant and buds usually test at 15-18% THC with ~1% CBD.
A well balanced (50/50) Indica/Sativa autoflower, finishing in 10-11 weeks from germination, Zkittlez OG Auto will give out nice and sweet, candy and berry like smells and aromas as soon as it starts to go into flower, generally around week 5. Usually around 100cm, it will develop a nice branching with tight internodes that will get covered with almost white, trichome covered buds. Providing for a nice yield both indoors and outdoors, high potency and incredible flavor are this strain’s main advantages.
Aromas of Zkittlez OG Auto are sweet, tropical and fruity with candy, chocolate, berry and fruity flavors that are more than abundant and well expressed. Effects are quick hitting and long lasting – uplifting, alert and focused at first, progressing into relaxed, calming and happy.
Zkittles Auto from Fast Buds is an Indica-dominant cross between triple Zkittlez backcross Z3 and Fast Buds best Ruderalis that gives it its autoflowering trait. It has all the well known qualities of the original photoperiod Zkittles with added extra resistance and halved harvest time. Yields are usually around 400-600g/m2 or 270-300g per plant and buds usually test ~20% THC and <1% CBD.
Zkittles is known for its remarkable taste and aroma, starting from chocolate that fills out your grow room – to sweet, candy and berry like aromas once cured. Usually finishing in 8-9 weeks but it can take a week or two more to fully mature. Staying under 100cm, it has rather larger internodes but they soon get filled with big and dense, trichome covered buds. Usually forming one big cola and a bunch of smaller ones around it, its yield will pleasantly surprise the grower in both quality and quantity, easily matching those of regular, photoperiod plants. It’s known to be thirsty, both for water and nutrients so don’t be afraid to feed them a bit extra.
There aren’t many strains that have such unique aromas and flavors like Zkittles – sweet, candy and berry like aromas will provide a party for all your senses. Effects are what you’d expect from an Indica dominant strain – long lasting, relaxing, body buzzed and happy.
Lemon Zkittle from Dutch Passion is a great award-winning Sativa-dominant strain, made by two American genetics – Las Vegas Lemon Skunk and Zkittles. This strain deserves the attention of every grower as it has huge THC content, provides high yields and has a great citrus aroma.
This strain is not difficult to grow and will be a suitable choice for novice growers as it has good resistance to stress and can forgive little mistakes new growers often make. Experienced growers can really push this strain to the limit and get remarkable results. Plants are usually medium sized and finish flowering in 9-10 weeks. THC content is usually around 20% THC.
This strain is easily recognizable by its very sour citrus aroma. 20% THC content of Lemon Zkittle will provide for very strong effects so users with low tolerance should be careful with this lady. Effects are best described as a mixture of body stoned and head high. Balance between these two effects helps to relax and get a lot of positive emotions that will last you throughout the day.
Sweet Zkittlez is RQS’ version of legendary and famous Zkittles, an Indica-dominant hybrid, a cross between Grape Ape and Grapefruit. Known for its delicious and flavorful taste and aroma, it finishes in 7-9 weeks and produces around 500g of high quality buds. Yields are usually around 550-600g/m2 or 500-550g per plant with buds testing around 15-22% THC and <1% CBD.
Indoors it stays manageable height up to 140cm but outdoors, especially if given enough root space and vegetation time, it can shoot up to 200cm. It does prefer hot, sunny and humid climate but does well indoors or in a greenhouse where those conditions are replicated. With its various shades of green and hints of purple, it’s a nice sight to look at too. Usually forms one big, dense and hard, main cola and a bunch of small to medium sized buds will cover numerous branches from top to bottom.
Aromas are citrusy and fruity with earthy, piney and tropical undertones. Flavors are sweet, candy-like with hints of berry and grape and grapefruit. Effects are strong, relaxed, uplifting and happy, leaving you hungry and sleepy.
Gorilla Zkittles from Barney’s Farm is an Indica dominant hybrid, a cross between two legendary and sensational strains – Gorilla Glue and Zkittles. Made with potency and flavor in mind, it delivers and then some. A must try for all cannabis connoisseurs and casual users alike. Usually testing at 20-25% THC with ~1% CBD.
With a decent yield of 500-700g/m2 indoors if given enough space for the root system to establish and enough time in vegetation, experienced growers can easily harvest more than 2000g per plant.
Loaded with terpenes and cannabinoids, finished buds are almost white and entirely covered with resinous trichomes. Usually staying below 150cm indoors, it will stretch and double its size during flowering so have that in mind and provide adequate space for them to grow. As they approach the harvest, especially if the night temperatures are a bit colder, pink and light purple colors may appear.
Effects are strong and powerful, meditative and thought provoking at first, transitioning into calming and relaxing body high. Flavors and aromas are fresh and fruity, reminding you of sweet fruit candy. Due to its high THC content, it’s used to treat chronic pain, insomnia and arthritis.
Watermelon Zkittlez from Pyramid Seeds is a 50/50 Indica/Sativa hybrid cross between Watermelon Zum Zum #3 and award-winning OG Eddy. THC content is pretty high, usually reaching up to ~25% and <1% CBD. It’s a great daily strain to lift your spirits and get the creative juices going.
Growers may expect to harvest in 9 weeks indoors or by the end of September outdoors with yields going up to 400g/m2 indoors or 750-1000g outdoors. Due to its high resin production and high terpene content, it’s a popular choice for various extractions and concentrates. If left untrained, plants will grow in a standard Christmas tree shape with one huge main cola, surrounded with numerous, strong branches that get covered with sticky and smelly buds, fully coated with resin.
Watermelon Zkittlez effects are more on the Sativa side of things – cerebral, energizing, creative, euphoric and motivating but will leave you slightly relaxed and happy. It’s a great strain for social situations and interactions and can be used medicinally to treat depression, PTSD and to relieve stress. Flavors are sweet and best described as juicy watermelon and aromas as fresh, pungent and tropical with woody and herbal undertones.
Zkittlez Glue from Expert Seeds is an Indica-dominant (80%) cannabis hybrid, a cross between two legendary and award-winning strains – Skittlez and Gorilla Glue #4. With such genetic markup, growers can expect extremely high resin production and significant terpene content. Yields are usually around 350g/m2 indoors or 450g per plant outdoors with buds testing at ~23% THC and 2% CBD.
Plants usually finish flowering in 8-9 weeks indoors while outdoor growers may expect to harvest by early to mid October. Buds are dense and hard, light to dark green with numerous bright orange pistils and covered with trichomes. Plants will stay relatively short, usually between 80 and 100 cm indoors and 120-150cm outdoors and prefer sunny and warm climates or greenhouses.
Effects are strong, fast-hitting and long lasting, primarily body oriented – relaxing and body buzz, leaving you happy, hungry and sleepy. Its aromas are strong and pungent – earthy and sour and its flavors are truly mouthwatering – sweet and tropical. Users report benefits from using Zkittlez Glue in treating pain, stress, depression, insomnia, ADD/ADHA and improving appetite.
