Worlds Worst Strains

We spend a lot of time talking about the best of everything. The best strains for this, for that, the best strains overall, but what about the breeding mistakes. Strains that have either been removed from the gene pool or still linger somewhere in the dark. The strains that do nothing, or do far too much but suddenly and out of nowhere. The strains that taste weird or just make you feel like someone is going to pop out of a cupboard and stab you. Breeding is a science and just like any other science the occasional abomination is bound to slip out. These are just a few of the very worst strains that were ever available to the cannabis smoking public. Some are just relics from the past, and some still need to be avoided like the plague. These are just a few that smokers recommend avoiding.

Mango Pina

This strain has luckily left the cannabis market by now, but it used to be happily nuzzled in amongst the rest of the strains waiting for an unwitting customer to trip over it. She cropped up in the 1960s and was well known for smelling and tasting fantastic. She was fruity and bright with a delicious aftertaste and perfect for a sunny day. However, for all the effect she had, you may as well have just had a mango smoothie. This strain had such low THC that she had almost no effect whatsoever. Mango Pina didn’t even have a high level of CBD to compensate by being therapeutic. Those of us with a low tolerance could potentially hope for a general feeling of calm, but even then it was unlikely. Luckily these days we have strains such as Mango Kush, all that delicious flavour with significantly increased THC. You can’t get this strain anymore but if you could I’d advise avoiding it.

Pablos Gold

At least the previous strain was simply pointless, this one is actively irritating. Pablos Gold is famous for being one of the most frustratingly deceptive strains on the market. This strain is Sativa dominant, has a high level of THC usually sitting at around 17 – 20%, sounds pretty appealing doesn’t it? Well, you’re completely wrong, unfortunately. At the beginning of the high one feels uplifted and energetic with a happy little buzz that you might expect from a strong Sativa. Then, very suddenly, an intense sedative effect will kick in and just knock you out. As soon as the first wave of happy energy drops it is almost impossible for most people to keep their eyes open never mind keep going with their day. Although, if you do happen to suffer from severe insomnia, there are worse strains to use. Primarily this baby is on the list for being so extremely misleading.

Madman OG

Some would say that the name should be hint enough, but honestly, so many amazing strains have bizarre names it’s just impossible to tell anymore. This strain is pretty powerful and usually has a THC level of 16 – 24%. It was created by crossing OG Kush and LA Confidential, in theory, a fantastic coupling. The issue with this strain is that it reaches a ridiculous high in no time at all. Again, this sounds like a good thing. In this case, it is definitely anything but. The high is overwhelming and far too intense, even for experienced smokers. Initially, it can be pretty good for lightening the mood and improving the general state of mind. However, it will quickly turn from buzz to full-on intense anxiety and paranoia. It is often referred to as the “jittery strain” due to the unpleasant wave of high strung stress that washes over you. Imagine just downing about 20 coffees at once and you have an idea of what this strain delivers. Many also find that this strain gives them a pretty severe headache.

Blue Widow

With the word Widow in there usually, we would assume that this is a good strain. Some of the world’s best strains have been offshoots of the famous White Widow. The other parent is the amazing Blueberry, so what happened here? The flavour and scent are delicious just like you would expect them to be. The medicinal side is perfectly fine, it can be used as a painkiller and as a way to ease muscle cramps. So what’s wrong with the strain? I mean nothing in particular, but there is also nothing right with it. It is just a completely nothing strain. Despite the fact that the THC sits at around 12 – 17% the effect is just entirely underwhelming. Those who are completely new to cannabis may find this to be a semi-decent strain. However, if you have been smoking for a while it is unlikely that you’ll get anything out of Blue Widow.

Top 44

This strain has mainly reached the list of the world’s worst strains because of user feedback. Essentially this fella was bred by famous breeders Nirvana Seeds to be a sedative. People expected a lot from the strain due to its lineage and its THC level of 8 – 15%, not very strong but enough for an intense sedative. Instead, it simply turned out that this strain had almost no effect on most smokers. There is, of course, nothing more upsetting than when you smoke weed and literally nothing happens. It was supposed to provide a hefty kick and a full-body couch-lock that could help with insomnia and a variety of other issues. Instead, smokers felt just as awake and as uncomfortable as ever, just a little lighter in the wallet. According to customers they waited and waited for the buzz to kick in and were sorely disappointed when nothing at all happened. This is another strain that might be ok for those who have either never smoked before or who have smoked very little. However, as far as the wide variety of strains available goes, this isn’t one that comes highly recommended. Simply entirely too underwhelming.
