Cheese has been one of the most popular strains on the market since it was created in the 80s. It is best known for its distinctive and pungent scent. It is also known as one of the most famous strains to have originated in the UK. It is also popular for its potency and has been used as a parent plant for a wide variety of hybrid strains. It is thought that Cheese is a descendant of Skunk #1 and later on it was combined with Afghani genetics. This was primarily to increase the trichome production as well as the yield. Cheese is a happy and uplifting strain that provides a blissful chill. Cheese has quite the following of dedicated smokers, so for all of you out there here are the best Cheese descendant strains.

Big Buddha Cheese

Big Buddha Cheese was an immediate success and won a number of awards. She has retrained all the classic flavour of the Cheese mother but has an increased yield. The effect is powerful and uplifting with a high that will last for hours and hours. It is also a very clear stone which is perfect if you still have things to be getting on with. She has a classic, old school scent and flavour which is ideal for Cheese lovers. She is 100% Indica and produces some beautiful high yielding plants. She has a flowering time of just 7 – 9 weeks and can be grown indoors or in a greenhouse.

Sweet Cheese

This Cheese child was created by crossing Cheese and Black Jack. The result is a cerebral, euphoric strain that is also extremely physically relaxing and long-lasting. She is also pretty powerful and is often used as a medicinal strain. She is not only a great painkiller but is also often used by those suffering from anxiety and depression. She can be used during the day since she allows the user to retain their energy and focus. Sweet Cheese is super productive and has an amazing flavour and scent. It very much shows signs of the original Cheese with hints of spice. This hybrid is Sativa dominant with a good hint of Indica behind it for relaxation. She has a flowering time of 9 weeks and will grow well indoors or outdoors.

Blue Cheese

This strain is probably one of the most famous and most popular Cheese hybrids. She is a cross between Cheese and Blueberry. The high is extremely relaxing and cerebral with a nice soft body stone. She has a medium to high CBD level of 1 – 5% with a THC level of around 19%. This strain is extremely stable because once the two strains were combined they were backcrossed to perfect the strain. That classic Cheese aroma is mixed with sweet blueberry to create something truly original. The scent begins with flowering and then gets progressively stronger. If this strain is being grown indoors it may need some ventilation. The yields are impressive and indoors she can produce 500 – 550 g/m2. For those who are willing to put in a little extra effort, this strain will produce incredible yields of top-quality buds. She has a short flowering time of 7 – 8 weeks and can be grown indoors or outdoors.

Swiss Cheese

This little lady is a few generations down the line from the original Cheese. She was created by combining Swiss Miss and Skunk #1. She is one of the ultimate happy, uplifting and euphoric strains. She even won 1st Seeds Company at the High Times Cannabis Cup in 2006. She has a high level of CBD and is often used by those suffering from depression, stress or pain. She definitely still has that old school Skunk/Cheese scent and flavour that will make Cheese purists very happy. This is also an amazing strain for beginners as the plants are resistant to mould and fungus. Outdoor growing in damper climates is also very possible. She can also deal with a lot of temperatures as long as it doesn’t get towards freezing. Swiss Cheese is an Indica/Sativa mix that keeps her effect nice and balanced. She will grow well indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

Dairy Queen

Dairy Queen is a cross between Cheese, Cinderella 99 and Romulan all of which are fantastic strains. Again it has that extremely powerful flavour and smell that we look for in a Cheese hybrid. The Romulan parent adds a little bit of spice and citrus which is a welcome addition. She is a cross of Sativa and Indica, and they are relatively well balanced. It is 60% Sativa and 40% Indica, giving it an extremely pleasant effect. This is another strain that is popular with medicinal users as it is excellent for fighting pain, stress, depression and anxiety. She is also easy to grow and is well suited to those who have little experience but want to achieve a good crop of high-quality buds. She has a flowering time of just 7 – 8 days and grows well indoors or outdoors.

Chiesel

Our final hybrid is a cross between Cheese and Diesel, two strains that are well known for their quality and odour. It takes all of the best qualities from each parent to create a high yielding and potent strain. The high is a clear and bright euphoric happiness and the flavour is a mix of sour grapefruit and classic Cheese. She germinates extremely quickly and produces incredible yields from tough and hardy plants. This makes her perfect for all levels of growers, especially those who are running on a time limit. She is Sativa dominant at 60% but still very well balanced with her Indica side. Aesthetically they are gorgeous plants with wide fanning side branches and dense resinous buds. The leaves are a very dark green which just enhances the sparkling trichomes. This strain tends to prefer to be grown indoors or in a greenhouse. She has a flowering time of just 8 – 10 weeks.
