Best Ways To Enjoy Weed Without Tobacco Part 1

Weed and tobacco have been bedfellows for a long time now. Growing up the way we smoked weed was always rolling a joint with tobacco. I remember people would use straight cigarettes and peel the paper down the side before awkwardly shuffling the contents into a king skin. Sprinkling the softened soapbar or coarsely ground weed onto the dry tobacco and struggling to roll it into something smokeable. Still smoking a joint is one of the most normal methods of consuming weed. But as time goes by we learn more and more about what is and isn’t trying to kill us. Many of us are trying to get healthier, quit certain things, start others. This means there has been a massive increase in stoners who want to move on from the classic tobacco laced joint. So here are some of the best ways that you can continue to enjoy weed without smoking baccy.

Why Quit Tobacco Smoking?

There are lots of reasons why you should consider stopping smoking weed with tobacco.

  • It is more likely that you’ll get addicted to nicotine and therefore feel addicted to smoking weed.
  • Weed often tastes a lot nicer when it’s pure and you can enjoy the nuanced flavours of each strain.
  • Smoking weed doesn’t damage your taste and sense of smell like tobacco does.
  • Many find they experience a better high and less of a comedown when they smoke pure weed.

Pipes

If you aren’t fussed about smoking but just want to avoid tobacco then pipes are a fantastic option. They are small, portable and easy to use with a wide variety of options. You have the more classic pipes or you can go for something new and slick. This way you just pop your weed into the gauze the light it, simple. This method means you don’t need to use tobacco but you also don’t need to skin up at all which usually requires a sheltered space with a flat surface. I’m not sure how much more I can write on this one, I’m sure you are all aware of pipes.

Here are a few options if you’re interested in trying out pipes:

If you’re fancy and have plenty of money you might enjoy the Electra Solo Pipe. This baby can be used as a pipe or a lighter and it’s rechargeable. It’s compact and sleek with a great design and plenty of extras, but it does cost an absolute bomb.

If you want something a bit more chill and cheap but still effective and pretty then the Grav Classic Pipe is a good option. It comes in a variety of colours, it’s small and discreet and is a fantastic little piece of equipment.

For those with a serious budget, these little buddies are perfect. This Capped Silicone Pipe is tiny, cheap and comes in loads of colours. Plus you can put your little cap on if you haven’t quite finished smoking but need to get moving.

Vaping

This is another very popular method that comes with tonnes and tonnes of options. Vaping is good for anyone who doesn’t want to smoke at all. Many see vaping as safer, cleaner and easier as well as a good deal less conspicuous. Pipes heat the THC enough to release all the good stuff but don’t burn hot enough to release as many of the other nasty bits. Also if you’re using a vape you can usually enjoy cannabis extracts like resin, oil and concentrate.

If you’re not sure where to start when it comes to vaping, here are some of the highest-rated on the market in a variety of price ranges:

Let’s start with expensive but worth it with the DaVinci IQ2. This baby may cost a fair bit but as far as quality goes it is worth the price. It looks great, it has an in-app dosage calculator which means no more accidentally getting destroyed, it has a removable battery and the temperature and airflow control is second to none.

If you’re looking to spend a little less then the G Pen Dash is a great option. It’s small, powerful and it’s extremely easy to use. If you just want something simple, effective and not completely bank-breaking then this is a fantastic option.

For those of you who might want a fancy household vape then I definitely suggest a volcano, maybe the Volcano Hybrid Vaporiser. These guys may not be small, pretty and portable but they are incredibly effective. This one is app-compatible, has a digital display, a convection heater, a dual vape and it heats up insanely quickly. This is perfect for anyone who likes to have friends over for a smoke.

Bongs

Of course, bongs are a classic method of smoking without smoking tobacco. I remember encountering my first bong at the age of 16 and being pretty intimidated. I have to say though since then it’s been one of my favourite smoking methods. You can find all sorts of different sizes, materials, prices and shapes. Bongs are simple and easy to use, perfect for in the house or on the move. Here are a few of the best bongs so for this year:

The Grav Labs 8″ Round Base Bong is a stunning and basic option that isn’t too expensive. It comes from a Texas-based company known as the “scientific glass company”. It is only 8” tall which is fantastic if you want a personal bong that you can take with you. The smoke quality is fantastic, this is definitely a bong that would fit most shoppers.

Bong by Session is another mid-range option that is a little bigger. This sci-fi looking water pipe comes extremely highly recommended for being modern, durable and easy to clean. It can be easily customised, it comes with a small and a large bowl, and if you tip it over it’s very hard to spill. I know we’ve all had a case of bong water carpet at some stage.

Come back for part two where we will be exploring smoking free options.

  1. I never understood the urge to mix tobacco and weed. Even in high school when we smoked cigarettes we never did that. Same with hash. Pipes or joints with hash or weed only. Tobbaco just makes it taste bad. I know it’s a tradition in some places but thank god not in Canada generally.

  2. I’ve been smoking 30 I’ve tryed bongs, pips, chillums, hot knifes ,I’ve tryed smoking just weed ends up getting expensive + I prefer hash to weed got my little hash pipe but still won’t a j with tobbaco

  3. I can relate to the author on this one.

Many years ago when I started smoking cannabis much of what we could get to smoke was hash. We were broke students and didn’t have a bong or even a pipe to smoke the hash from. And smoking hash from a pipe was harsh.

It was much easier to roll it with tobacco. you cant roll it without it. fortunately, most of us smoked back then so it wasn’t a problem skinning up was easy and the tobacco ensured the hash burnt evenly and steadily. When we had weed we did the same, it helped the weed burn smoother as well and stretched your stash further. Although with weed we would typically use a dugout or weed pipe if we had one to hand.

I guess it is just a different culture at that time and also depends on when and where you started smoking and what was available to get a hold of.
