Best Strains For A UTI

If you own a urinary tract there is a good chance that at some point you have experienced a UTI. Otherwise known as urinary tract infections which are extremely common in women but do also affect men. If you own lady parts it can be extremely easy to get a UTI. Sexual intercourse is probably one of the most common causes but they can appear from all sorts of unlikely places. They can occur because of dehydration, periods, or just show up randomly for no apparent reason. In both men and women, these can range from uncomfortable to extremely painful and can essentially make your day extremely unpleasant. Unfortunately, the only ways to shift one are to drink loads of water and, failing that, go to a doctor to get something stronger. Either way, it can take a while to leave so you might want a little something to help deal with the pain or discomfort.

How Do You Know If It’s A UTI?

Before we start looking for help let’s make sure we are dealing with a UTI. The most common symptom is pain or discomfort when peeing, pretty easy to spot. You may also need to pee far more often, or at least feel that you need to. Many people will experience discomfort or pain in their lower tummy or back. In extreme situations you may feel run-down, have dark or bloody urine, or start experiencing fever, vomiting or severe lower back pain. This is usually a sign that something is wrong deeper in your body, primarily your kidneys, and you should see a doctor asap. Honestly, for most UTIs that go for longer than a day and are relatively painful, I would suggest going to see your GP anyway.

How Can Weed Help?

There hasn’t been a massive amount studied in the department of cannabis and UTIs. However, this doesn’t mean that we are totally in the dark on the subject. Cannabinoid 1 receptors are connected with the bladder, so cannabis can do more than just relieve the pain generally. It can actually reduce swelling in the bladder and specifically target pain in that area by latching onto the endocannabinoid receptors in the bladder walls. Again, not enough research has gone into this field, but it is very likely from other forms of research done that cannabis can be an effective way of reducing or potentially treating a UTI.

The Best Strains For A UTI

Cannatonic

Cannatonic is one of the best known medicinal cannabis strains on the market. She is a multi-prize winner that is always the first to be recommended for all things medical. She is regularly used by those suffering from muscle spasms, inflammation, nausea, and overall pain. This makes Cannatonic an excellent strain for UTIs as we really are trying to fight the inflammation to reduce discomfort. The other great thing about this strain is that she has a 1:1 ratio of THC and CBD. Her THC won’t usually reach over 6% which makes her a perfect daytime strain. She can relieve all of your discomfort without disrupting your schedule. If you’re not sure exactly what you need Cannatonic will cover all medical bases. She will take around 9 – 10 weeks to flower and can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

Mr Nice Skunk Haze

This strain is great for lifting your mood while you’re feeling under the weather. She is also pretty great at pain and swelling relief. This strain was named after the extremely famous cannabis activist and part-time spy Howard Marks. If you don’t know about this man you can read the two-part article we published on him a couple of months ago. Or read his book Mr. Nice…or watch the film. Anyway, to have received his name this strain has to be something special. If you are really suffering from pain while you wait for the medication to kick in this is the perfect strain for you. It is a little stronger than Cannatonic so might be one to smoke before having a lie-down and watching a nice film. She has a flowering time of 9 – 11 weeks and can be grown indoors or in a greenhouse.

Blackberry Kush

This strain is more sedative based than the other two. She has a full-body hit that will knock the pain out completely while also reducing inflammation. It can be extremely difficult to sleep while dealing with a UTI. That sharp burning pain and constant need to pee, even when you don’t actually have to, can make nighttime a complete nightmare. Not only will this strain massively reduce the discomfort it will also pretty much knock you out. Blackberry Kush is often used by those who struggle with sleep or suffer from full insomnia. She can hit around 20% THC so you don’t need much to send you off into a blissful doze where you won’t constantly get disturbed by painful tubes. This strain has a flowering time of 10 weeks and can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

Green Crack

Our final strain gets its name from its extremely high energy buzz. One of the symptoms of a urinary tract infection can be fatigue or drowsiness during the day. If you are waiting for your treatment to kick in but you have a busy day ahead of you this is the ideal strain. She not only gives a burst of stimulating energy but she continues the pain relief and inflammation relief aspect that is all-important with a UTI. Green Crack is pretty powerful with a THC level of 20% so don’t go overboard if you have things to do. Even though she is very strong the high is extremely clear-headed and sharp. I would recommend this strain to anyone who has something creative to finish or who needs to work from home while dealing with an infection. This strain has a flowering time of 58 – 65 days and can be grown indoors or outdoors.
