Growing can be a bit of a minefield for those who are new to it. How do you know what advice to follow? Who on the internet is right? Which growers to trust? Maybe one person has great advice for people who live in a particular part of the world, but not for you. For those of you who have been growing for a while but want to step up your game, how do you find the right help for your growing level? There is just so much information all over the internet and it can just be enormously overwhelming. So I have put together a list of the very best cannabis growing books for a range of needs and levels.

True Living Organics by The Rev

This book is often recommended to those who already have some growing experience but want help improving their plants. The book is celebrated for going into a great deal of detail as well as having fantastic quality images to help you care for your plants. When we look at the reviews a number of growers refer to it as a must-have for experienced growers. It has also been mentioned that a reader had never found a more detailed guide to growing mediums and nutrients. This book is well written, fun to read, easy to understand and can advance the level of your growing abilities in leaps and bounds. The Rev is the cultivation editor for a magazine called SKUNK Magazine. He is thought to be one of the most talented organic cultivators out there, so his book is a must-buy for more advanced growers.

Marijuana Grower’s Handbook by Ed Rosenthal

This is a book that comes up on every single top growing books list. Ed Rosenthal is certainly one of the most famous cannabis-related authors. His books cover a wide range of growing topics, but this is the perfect book for every single type of grower. This book doesn’t just look into how to grow and cultivate plants, but also many other aspects of the plants including their medical value. This book covers everything from the most simple methods for beginners right through to tricks and tips for experts. So a grower can go from novice to expert with this one book. Again the photography in this book is stunning, it’s inexpensive and it means no having to mess around with a bunch of different books to get all the information you need. This is definitely the top book for those who just want to know everything about growing weed.

The Sinsemella Technique by Kayo

This book is a little older, published in the early 80s, but never the less is a useful book for growers to have on the shelf. This is a great introduction book and is considered an icon of cannabis growing. This book was very popular at the time due to the fact that it clearly showed how to identify male and female plants. This comes in very useful when the vegetative stage is finished and the males need to be separated from the females. For anyone who has never done any growing before this is likely one of the easiest to read and understand. A great way to start off on your growing journey.

Cultivating Exceptional Cannabis by DJ Short

I’m sure most of us have heard of DJ Short, owner of the DJ Short seed company. DJ Short is known all over the world as an exceptional grower and has been on the scene for 40 years. This book moves past just simple grow techniques and teaches you how to get the most out of your crop. These methods improve yield, scent, flavour, potency, resin production and so on. He also advises on stabilisation and selection of strains for breeding so that you can begin to make your own strains. Beyond that, there is a lot of advice on how to perfectly set up your grow system to ensure you are getting everything you can out of it without wasting electricity and water. This book isn’t particularly long so the details aren’t as in-depth as some other books. However, for those who already kind of know what they are doing it is perfect. And for those who are new, it is certainly a welcome addition to your bookshelf.

The Cannabis Grow Bible by Greg Green

This is another book that is for growers of any level and provides important and useful advice on the overall act of growing weed. It was actually one of the first books to look into the Screen of Green growing technique, now very popular amongst professional growers. This book does range right from your first plant to your first full crop and beyond. However, it is quite technical and some beginners have found it to be a little bit dense and confusing. It also covers so many topics that those who aren’t used to growing lingo might get lost. However, if you can traverse the many subjects in the book it is one of the best ones for learning how to grow technically excellent plants. It also takes into consideration a range of budgets and growing sites.

Marijuana Horticulture: Growers Bible by Jorge Cervantes

Here we have our final book and another growers bible. This one focuses on starting from the bottom and creating your own grow system. This guide is useful and easy with a simple step-by-step work through of how to get started in the cannabis industry. This book is lousy with high-quality colour images, which can be amazing when you’re working with living creatures like plants. The guide covers indoor and outdoor growing as well as having a fantastic layout and being very simple to understand. This is likely the better bible option for those of you who have never grown before and don’t want to be overwhelmed. It is also inexpensive and has the added bonus of a side focus on the medicinal aspects of the plants.
