Frisian Duck

In this strain spotlight, The Vault will be focussing upon one of the most unique, stealthy and just plain ingenious strains ever to see the light of day: Frisian Duck, by the master breeders at Dutch Passion – an odd-ball strain so incredible that you are bound to say: ‘What the duck?!’

Background:

By crossing Ducksfoot – (a super-stealthy strain, prized for its specially camouflaged leaves) with the amazingly hardy, vigorous Frisian Dew outdoor strain, Dutch Passion have created a truly revolutionary new strain that is perfect for collectors seeking genetics that are suited for urban, back garden, balcony or greenhouse environments where stealth and low observability is key.

The main feature of this strain is definitely its leaves, which resemble the webbed feet of a duck, deviating totally from the tell-tale cannabis leaf shape of other strains. In fact, on appearance alone, even experienced growers might not recognise it as a cannabis plant without inspecting it up close.

Despite being disguised visually for most of its life, Frisian Duck flowers like any high quality cannabis strain – and therefore gives off a distinctive, potent aroma which would totally blow its stealthy cover if someone snoops by within sniffing range.

Dutch Passion states that Frisian Duck was one of their most challenging breeding operations – but in the end, they have produced a revolutionary strain which will blend in with the natural landscape, be perfectly at home growing next to some innocent vegetables, or even hide in plain sight next to a flowerbed, thanks to the glorious purple buds that blossom from it once it reaches its flowering stage.

Effects:

Expect an easy-going, revitalising Sativa head-buzz with energetic, social and creative effects.

Flowering time:

An 8 week flowering time makes this one speedy growing variety, which displays its unique webbed leaves during the first 2/3rds of its life. As the flowering stage takes effect, some upper leaves may start to become a little more recognisable as cannabis leaves, whilst its dense, compact buds will emit a strong, dank odour.

Frisian Duck was bred to cope with the harshest of conditions – and is a perfect outdoor strain for Northern European climates, or cooler Southern Hemisphere environments. The tough, robust nature of this strain makes it perfect for beginners.

Yield:

Frisian Duck produces average to slightly-above-average yields, but the beautiful purple-and-blue-tinted appearance of its buds, delicious flavour profile and energetic high that it generates all serve to indicate that this is a truly high-quality strain.

Flavour:

Refreshing, crisp pine, fragrant forest moss and sharp citrus flavours merge with subtle spicy notes to create a delicious, smooth and aromatic taste experience.
