Can Cannabis Help Treat Erectile Dysfunction

This isn’t the easiest topic to talk about but it is an issue that affects most men at some point in their life. We use cannabis to reduce the symptoms of most other ailments, so why not erectile dysfunction. I’m sure many of us have found it difficult to get it up after smoking too much. But, in the right amounts, there is a lot to suggest that cannabis could help reduce the causes of erectile issues. Let’s have a look at some of the thoughts behind using weed to reduce bedroom problems as well as some of the best strains to use.

What Is Erectile Dysfunction?

Essentially erectile dysfunction happens when a person cannot achieve an erection that is capable of satisfying intercourse. That’s essentially a fancy way of saying “thumbing it in”, which is a phrase I immediately apologise for writing. It can happen on varying levels of severity and goes from a one-time thing to a chronic issue.

There are numerous reasons for your little buddy to freak out and refuse to perform. The way that erections work is through blood flow. If something causes the muscles to contract and reduce flow to the penis the erection will go away. This can be a mental issue related to stress or anxiety, it can be alcohol-related or it can be a medical issue. It’s usually best to go to a doctor if you regularly experience erectile dysfunction as there may be issues with your blood flow.

How Can Weed Help?

There are a few schools of thought behind why cannabis can reduce erectile dysfunction. If we want to be simple about it cannabis can reduce other issues that cause problems in the trouser department. Sometimes struggling to get it up can come from pain, stress, anxiety, and a variety of other internal factors. Cannabis is often used to treat these issues so maybe a small amount of a calming medicinal strain, probably one with low THC, could reduce these issues and make it easier to get there.

This is the most obvious way that cannabis can help, but there is actually a medicinal link between the causes of erectile dysfunction and what cannabis does to the body. A study was done in 2017 which found not only that cannabis did not reduce sexual function in men like tobacco does but may increase it. Then a survey found that a number of young men reported increased stamina and endurance when having sex on cannabis. This is again great for those who don’t tend to suffer from erectile dysfunction regularly. Just a few years ago we started looking into treating the chronic issue with cannabis. This study looked at the way THC affected the endocannabinoid system. It is not uncommon for cannabis to improve blood flow which is often one of the causes of erectile dysfunction. Pairing this with the positive mental effects it is very possible that certain strains can help you achieve full mast.

What Are The Best Strains?

OG Kush

OG Kush is one of the most popular aphrodisiac strains on the market. It is well known for increasing sensitivity and producing a feeling of euphoria. It is also often used as a painkiller, for treating depression and PTSD. This means it has all of the bits we need in an erection helping strain. OG Kush is a pretty strong strain that usually has THC levels over 20%. Newer users may want to be careful because if you get too high there is no way you will be able to get the deed done. This strain has a powerful scent that is sweet and tangy in a way that will absolutely make your mouth water. OG Kush is also an Indica Sativa balance which makes it ideal for this specific kind of medicinal use. This strain has a flowering time of just 8 weeks and can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

Blue Dream

Blue Dream is the ideal strain for anyone who struggles with mood and energy when it comes time to do the nasty. This strain is Sativa dominant and has a THC level of 25%, so she is pretty powerful. She has an extremely cerebral and energetic effect so can really perk up you and your gentleman’s gentleman. Despite being stimulating it is also oddly relaxing so great for anyone who suffers from sex-related anxiety. This strain was created by combining some of the most impressive strains on the market. It is a mix of Super Silver Haze, Thai, Afghani, Mexican, and Blueberry. Blue Dream has actually been named one of the top 10 strains of all time. This strain has a flowering time of 65 – 70 days and can be grown indoors or outdoors.

Jack Herer

Jack Herer is one of the most popular strains on the market and is definitely a bit of a cure-all. It has an extremely cerebral and long-lasting effect that is both mental and physical. This means it not only helps with any kind of mental anxiety but helps to relax the body and improve blood flow. This strain is also Sativa dominant so has a little boost of energy to it. The THC level usually sits at around 23% so again probably try not to overdo this one. This strain was created by combining Red Skunk and Haze. It was named after famous cannabis activist and author of ‘The Emperor Wears No Clothes’ Jack Herer. It is often used as a medicinal strain because it has a decent level of CBD which is what aids with the physical stuff. This strain is also a multi-award winner and has won 2nd – High Life Cannabis Cup and 2nd – High Life Cannabis Cup both in 2006. This strain is known for leaving users relaxed, happy and ready to get down to some filthy business. It has a flowering time of 8 weeks and can be grown indoors, outdoors, or in a greenhouse.
