Although YouTube has a weird policy when it comes to cannabis and has even removed some of the channels and legal cannabis related content in the past, many cannabis brands, companies and individuals have great and interesting content to offer on the platform.
Many companies and individuals still have doubts about YouTube’s varying policies and host their video content on their own servers or other services like WeedTube – some free, some as a premium content.
So, who to subscribe to and what to watch, you ask?
Growing Exposed
Growing Exposed is the original documentary garden tour series, which offers viewers an unique “behind the scenes” view of cannabis farms, gardens and businesses. Started in 2015, it also documents historic moments and exciting journeys of the cannabis industry with addition of good advice for growers and people in the cannabis industry.
Currently in season 3, each episode focuses on a number of growers and their farms and grows and companies which drive the cannabis industry forward. Growing exposed offers viewers both education and entertainment through cannabis cultivation and related topics.
Along with full episodes that are usually ~25 min long, there’s a bunch of shorter videos and excerpts that provide useful bits of knowledge, showcase fun and “behind the scenes” action, subscribers questions and answers and a lot of bud porn.
Growers Network
Started in 2016, Growers Network YouTube channel creates unique content that caters to both cannabis professionals, helping them elevate their craft through master classes and professional advice and to cannabis enthusiasts and aficionados.
Along with interviews and online classes that cover everything from seed to sale, the channel features “Canna Cribs” – series that show day to day operations of some of the biggest commercial cannabis grow operations in the world. Taking viewers from specific genetics used in the facility and walking them through each and every phase of its life cycle and ultimately sales, each episode finishes with using the products and giving an honest review.
Second series available on the channel is “Deep Roots”, a cultural exploration of the cannabis movement and cannabis industry seen through the lens of a professional grower. Inspired by shows like Parts Unknown, each episode explores local cannabis communities, delicious food and local music scene.
Strain Hunters
Strain Hunters YouTube channel is a series of documentaries that show Green House Seeds crew going into various traditional cannabis growing regions, interacting with locals, collecting seeds and visiting cannabis farms throughout the world.
Strain Hunters are dedicated to preserving the cannabis plant and vulnerable landrace genetics in some of the poorest areas of the planet. Operating as a Green House Seeds sister company, Strain Hunters offer those collected landraces and their various hybrids and crosses under their label.
The channel has produced episodes filmed in Jamaica, Malawi, Morocco, India. Swaziland, Trinidad and St. Vincent. Along with full episodes, viewers can watch various documentary excerpts and other shorter videos, mostly related to Green House Seeds and Strain Hunters. The Columbia episode was not released as part of the series but as a part of Vice News documentaries.
Following the tragic death of Franco Loja, master grower and an integral part of both Green House Seeds and Strain Hunters in 2017, it’s yet to be seen in what form and when they will continue with their work.
Future Cannabis Project
Future Cannabis Project YouTube channel is mostly tailored to cannabis growers and breeders, covering all angles and aspects of growing cannabis from microbiological, soil building, pests and predatory bugs, organic growing, plant genome to legislative and legal actions that people in the cannabis growing and breeding industry find themselves in.
The channel hosts world known cannabis breeders, legendary activists, top corporate experts from various fields of interest, medical experts, extraction artists and scientists. Topics that are included cover everything from cultivation, breeding, health, advocacy, legal policies, business, science, extraction, education and many more.
If you’re into growing cannabis and would like to learn more about both basics and things you didn’t even know you need and want to learn more about, this is THE CHANNEL to subscribe. Most videos are usually available live (but you can rewatch them anytime) in a podcast form, allowing the speakers to talk about topics in a way they want to talk and provide an inexhaustible source of really great info, you won’t get anywhere else.
Cannabis Health Radio
Cannabis Health Radio is a weekly podcast that gives a voice to those who have healed themselves or their loved ones with cannabis. Hosted by Ian Jessop and Corrie Yelland, who also used FECO/RSO to treat her own cancer, each weekly episode tells a story about personal experiences and journeys various individuals took in treating their personal health issues and conditions with cannabis.
While there are tens of thousands of studies and research papers already done on medicinal effects and properties of the cannabis plant, the majority of those studies were done in laboratory environments, in vivo and in vitro. Experiences shared on this podcast are not theoretical but practical – going from diagnosis, or even before that, to successful treatments, remissions and cured states for various illnesses and conditions.
Majority of cases are cancer related but other conditions such as MS, Crohn’s, PTSD, Cerebral Palsy, Depression, Autism, Addiction, Arthritis and numerous others are covered as well. Along with personal testimonials and experiences, podcast hosts numerous specialists, doctors, advocates and authors.
Best described as cannabis medicine in practice and in real life, numerous accounts and testimonials give hope to people by learning they have real options for various treatments that actually work. Something “official” cannabis science and medicine, due to complicated and still heavily regulated status of cannabis worldwide, still needs to catch up with.
Swami Select
Swami Select, as the name suggests, is Swami’s YouTube channel, that hosts many legendary cannabis activists, breeders and growers and people from the cannabis industry. Legendary grower, long time Emerald Cup judge, cannabis expert, advocate and connoisseur, Swami and his podcasts mostly orient themselves on organic cannabis practices but also cover a wide array of interesting topics, going from cannabis history to fair, sustainable and ethical business practices.
Along with longer episodes that are basically storytelling smoking sessions with Swami and Nikki and their guests, various other videos, covering cannabis movement, history, cannabis growing, breeding and other related topics are also available.
Although there are numerous cannabis related YouTube channels online, they are mostly just oriented either on the business side of things or just on the scientific and medical side and uses of cannabis. Through his videos and podcasts, Swami and Nikki expand that story to spiritual and religious dimensions of cannabis and its use in a humane and warm, personal way.
Jorge Cervantes
Jorge Cervantes is a world-known author, cannabis activist and grower and his YouTube channel is full of practical advice and theoretical knowledge, mostly covering cannabis growing. Alongside numerous garden tours, interviews with legendary growers and breeders, Jorge’s channel offers insights in the cannabis industry, talks with industry leaders and is a great source of cannabis knowledge, for both beginners and experienced growers alike.
Dubbed as “Ganja Guru”, Jorge Cervantes covers various topics in his videos, from cannabis genetics and breeding to extractions, plant training, pest management and disease control. Although not updated in the last year, the channel offers a wide variety of practical cannabis knowledge in a relaxed but “hands on” approach.
If you’re into growing cannabis, and if you’re reading this, you probably are, Jorge’s channel is definitely one to subscribe to. Tons of beautiful plants, high definition cannabis videos and numerous little gems of knowledge he and his guests provide will certainly be helpful to a wide array of people.
Steve DeAngelo
Steve DeAngelo’s YouTube channel offers dozens of episodes of his podcast called “Radio Free Cannabis with Steve DeAngelo” in which this legendary grassroots cannabis activist, entrepreneur, exemplary cannabis industry leader and advocate for cannabis reform, hosts numerous guests/correspondents from the cannabis movement and the cannabis industry.
Steve’s podcasts are conceived as a global network of cannabis correspondents, reporting and sharing numerous news and opinions from the cannabis world, orienting mostly on current cannabis related headlines and cannabis activism. With the ~ half hour podcast episodes that usually air once every few weeks, Steve’s channel has a number of videos, personal messages, news realms and other video material featuring him and projects he’s involved with.
