Many people think of cannabis users as lazy, squishy and generally indoorsy. However, that is just one of the many negative stereotypes that follows weed around. Weed can be fantastic for adventurous types and there are so many things that can be all the more fun when stoned. So you don’t need to just sit and watch films, eat snacks or have a nap, though all of those things are amazing. Here are just a few of the fun things that you can do while you’re high and the best strains to be high on while you do them. I don’t think that sentence was written well but we’re going to keep going anyway! 


Walks and Hikes


The ultimate healthy stoner activity is going walking or hiking. If you don’t love exerting too much effort while stoned then maybe not a full hike, but you can still go to a park, look at dogs, get a hot chocolate. If you are a seasoned active stoner then the majesty of the great outdoors can be massively improved by being high, which is saying something. I remember having a toke on the shore of Loch Einich in the north of Scotland and just taking in the incredible mountains that surrounded us. I still think it is by far the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in my short life. If you are going to go on a stoned hike please make sure you have everything you could possibly need. Lots of water, healthy snacks, a way to contact someone if things go sideways, extra layers in case the temperature drops, and a torch. This is the bare minimum if you have other bits you need then pack them, you have to be prepared. 

Strawberry Cough is an amazing outdoors strain, it is uplifting and euphoric which can make walks, hikes and rambles an absolute treat. Medicinally this strain is used for anxiety, depression and stress which means it pairs perfectly with the natural antidepressant that is the great outdoors. The other reason I love this strain for outdoor activities is its medium THC level. Usually, the THC of this strain will sit between 10 – 15%. This should be manageable for all but the newest smokers, who honestly shouldn’t be galavanting while high anyway. This strain has a flowering time of 9 weeks and will grow well indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse. 


Work Out


For my super active stoners who don’t fancy a nice long walk, another way to get those endorphins pumping is to have a stoned workout. Working out is generally great for the brain, and for some adding weed into the mix can make exercise all the more satisfying. Whether you’re going for a bike ride, doing yoga, or doing an intense cardio set weed can really improve the experience. This particular option is scientifically backed, the effect of cannabis on running mice has, not surprisingly, been looked into and monitored. The mice who ran with weed in their system showed significantly higher rates of endorphins than the normal mice. If you are having a hard time with depressive episodes or just feeling flat then this could be a great option. 


Harlequin CBD is a fantastic strain for exercising due to its relaxing but uplifting effects. It is also a CBD heavy strain so it won’t make you super high. This, in turn, means you are far less likely to accidentally hurt yourself while getting your sweat on. This strain is also used for a wide variety of medical issues. Anxiety, PTSD, stress, insomnia, Multiple Sclerosis, and arthritis among others. This strain has a flowering time of 56 – 63 days and can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse. 


Thrill Seek


Another wonderful option for all my active babies is to go and do something truly exciting. Go to a theme park, or go kayaking, anything in that sort of department. I would definitely recommend getting stoned and riding a rollercoaster. The increased sensory sensitivity adds an extra layer to the excitement and stomach-lurching fun that is riding a rollercoaster. Plus theme parks are full of places to get food, fun games to play and bathrooms which can be useful. One thing that could be really fun is listening to music on a rollercoaster, I’m not sure how you would manage it but it would be fun. It’s also a great way to spend the day high with your buddies and still stay active. You could also as a group go and do water sports, get your mind out of the gutter, or maybe go climbing somewhere with very soft crash mats. It could also be fun to engage in a slightly less intense group activity, like mini-golf. Increasing your endorphins can also massively lift your mood and help you get out of a slump. Even though getting stoned and sitting in front of the TV is a nice time, it can be responsible for bringing your overall mood down. 


White Widow is a classic strain that is simultaneously relaxing, energetic and uplifting. This makes it perfect for anyone who gets a little anxious doing things outside their comfort zone. For those who would usually be held back by their nerves, this strain is a fantastic option. Even if you are totally comfortable chasing thrills this strain will improve the general effect of the rollercoasters, kayaking, climbing or what have you. This strain can be pretty powerful so maybe don’t smoke too much if you are newer to weed. White Widow has been around since the 80s and is still one of the most popular strains on the market. If you want something to help you chill out after a day of adrenaline this strain is still great. If you’re already sleepy after a day of fun White Widow will send you right off to sleep. This strain has a flowering time of 8 weeks and can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.
