Seed banks, breeders and strains you should know: Part 3

 

In this series of articles we’re going to introduce seed banks, breeders and their most popular strains. Get to know them a bit better, how, when and why they started, what they’re about and what makes them going.

 

Humboldt Seed Organization

 

Humboldt Seed Organization is an upcoming seed bank offering quality original US and Californian genetics. They’ve been operating since 2012, when a group of local growers and breeder with more than 20 years of experience decided to form HSO. Coming from Humboldt County, known world-wide for its cannabis growing and quality buds, they’ve been gathering and improving on some of the best and legendary US cannabis strains as well as crossing them and producing new strains.

 

With their base of operations running from Spain, they’re offering classic US cannabis strains and their crosses. With the increase in demand for autoflowering and CBD strains, HSO offer their best strains in those variants too, with numerous award-winning strains to choose from.

• Bubba Kush – Indica-dominant hybrid, a three-way cross between OG Kush, West Coast Dog and Old World Kush. Typical Indica – stocky, compact and smelly, it’s a powerful, sedative and relaxing strain, ideal for night time use. Usually testing at 19-24% THC with yields around 500g. It’s available both as regular and feminized seeds, and there is even a 2.0 version with slightly upgraded performance as well as autoflowering and CBD version
• Blue Dream CBD – Sativa-dominant (65%) cannabis hybrid, a cross between legendary Blue Dream and California Orange CBD with THC:CBD ratio 1:1, usually testing at 10% of both which makes it interesting to many medicinal users and patients. Of course, along the CBD version, original Blue Dream is available too – in feminized and regular seed form, as well as the autoflowering version.
• Chemdawg – Indica-dominant hybrid, coming from a clone of legendary and potent Chem ‘91 (OG Kush X Sour Diesel). It’s highly potent, medicinal and tasty, grows fast and vigorous, reaching 200cm with yields up to 2-3kg. Effects are strong and long-lasting: creative, motivating, relaxing and euphoric at first, followed by calming body-buzz that leaves you sleepy and hungry. Chemdawg is available in regular and feminized seed form.

 

Sweet Seeds

 

Sweet Seeds was founded in 2015, in Valencia Spain and after conquering Spanish market they immediately spread first across Europe than across the globe. At Sweet Seeds they take great pride at their work and in cannabis strains they create. Their collection of feminized strains, both photoperiod and autoflowering, has become recognized and appreciated among cannabis growers and breeder world-wide.

 

Sweet Seeds are known for creating truly unique cannabis strains, often standing out from the crowd for being different in color, aroma or flavor. They were among first seed banks to offer autoflowering varieties as well as CBD strains and their breeders are also accredited for being forefathers of “Fast Version” genetics, that allowed to shorten the flowering time. • Cream Caramel – Indica-dominant, a three-way cross between three legendary Indicas; White Rhino, Blue Black and Maple Leaf Indica. • Sweet Afghani Delicious Aka S.A.D. – Indica-dominant cannabis hybrid, a result of self-pollination of Black Domina mother plant. Its musky and spicy flavors are matched by earthy and candy-like aromas with hint of hash. Plants are easy to Grow and are ideal for Resin Extraction, usually testing around 15-20% THC and 1-2% CBD. Fast Buds

 

Fast Buds were founded in 2010, originally as American Fast Buds,  in sunny California USA with a single intent – to provide the world with strains that will allow 4 harvest a year. That goal was accomplished by crossing the favorite and most popular US/California genetics with autoflowering/ mostly Canadian Cannabis Ruderalis genes.

 

To operate more freely and more efficiently they moved their operations to Spain, dropped the ‘American’ from the name and now have offices, representatives and distributors in LA, Europe and Latin America.

 

Fast Buds offer a wide variety of high-quality autoflowering cannabis strains, focused on high cannabionoid and terpene levels, yield, resin production and fast finishing time. They offer US classics as autoflowering cannabis strains and allow those out of California to enjoy and grow those world-known strains and genetics, in most cases very decent representation of the originals.

• Six Shooter Auto – a cross between Crystal Meth Auto and Mexican Airlines Auto, created with one idea in mind – to create the best yielding, high potency autoflowering strain out of Fast Buds genetic pool – and they’ve managed to do exactly that. The yield is usually 500-750g/m² or 80-350g per plant, testing at ~20% THC. Its fresh and citrusy flavors are followed by piney and peppery aromas.
• Girl Scout Cookies Auto – GSC variety made by crossing the original Californian Girl Scout Cookies strain with Canadian Ruderalis, Finishes in 8-9 weeks, can be grown both indoors and outdoors and produces up to 650g /m² of high quality buds that test at a whopping 22% THC. GSC Auto provides for the original Cookies experience with fast finishing of best auto flowering cannabis strains.
• Gorilla Glue Auto – an autoflowering version of the world famous Gorilla Glue. Original, which is known for its high potency and resin production, has been crossed with Ruderalis in order to create this autoflowering gem. Reaching up to 24% THC it’s a potent and highly medicinal cannabis strain. Aromas and flavors are piney with a subtle citrus and diesel tones.

 

ACE Seeds

 

ACE Seeds is a Spanish seed bank based in Valencia, operating as a group of growers and breeders dedicated to the preservation and study of cannabis and rare, heirloom and landrace cannabis strains. At ACE Seeds their goal is to improve the lack of genetic diversity that Cannabis strains are suffering at the moment, by offering pure, fresh and different genetics.

 

ACE Seeds offer new fresh genetics selected and created from various, landraces and heirloom strains, collected from all around the world. Each of their strains is unique and has different cannabinoid levels and ratios, accompanied by special and distinctive terpene and flavonoid profiles.

Plants are bushy with numerous side and collateral branches fully covered with trichome covered, exceptionally dense buds usually testing at 20-30% THC. Aromas are spicy, lemony and flowery. Due to high THC levels effects are strong and long-lasting – euphoric and uplifting, mostly cerebral.
• Congo – Sativa-dominant cannabis hybrid, a cross between two Congolese Sativas – Bangi Congo and Congo #3 and Pakistan Chitral Kush. Most plants tend to exhibit beautiful magenta and purple colors and hues till the end of flowering, usually around 9-10 weeks. Buds usually test at ~15% THC with ~2% CBG. Aromas are sweet and flowery with remind you of wild forest fruits like blackberry and strawberry. Effects are positive and energetic, creative, motivating and happy.
• Pakistan Chitral Kush – a pure powerful and compact Indica with short inter-nodal spacing, wide leaves and columnar growth. Some phenotypes grow with purple, red or pink colors and may have a week more or less to finish, but usually finishing in 7-9 weeks. PCK is famous for its sweet and caramel or bubblegum aromas with hints of cherry, berries, citrus and coffee. Due to moderate levels of THC, testing at 8-12% THC with 2% CBD, effects are pleasant and relaxing, reminding of a good hash.
