First up, let’s look at “Pineapple Express,” which was released in 2008. This hilarious and action-packed comedy follows two unlikely pals – a process server and his drug-dealing buddy – as they try to flee after witnessing a murder. Seth Rogen and James Franco star in the film as the protagonists. This film is ideal for a night in with some friends. Nice action and loads of fun at the same time.

 

The next on the list is “How High,”  released in 2001. In this funny stoner comedy, the protagonists are two underachievers who end up getting into Harvard after smoking a magical strain of marijuana that allows them to do exceptionally well on their college entrance exams. If only real life were that easy!

 

The coming-of-age comedy “Dazed and Confused” from 1993 is a movie that everyone should watch at least once. It will make you long for the simpler times of the 1970s. The plot of the movie revolves around a group of high school students as they prepare to celebrate the last day of school and begin their journey into the world of sex, drugs, and rock & roll.

 

In “Half Baked” from 1998, three pals find themselves in deep trouble after accidentally killing a police horse while high. It has Dave Chappelle in a supporting role. In this hilarious stoner movie, the trio sets out to raise money to bail their friend out of jail.

 

“The Big Lebowski” from 1998, now considered a cult classic, depicts the story of “The Dude,” portrayed by Jeff Bridges and is mistaken for a millionaire with the same name. As he gets himself into a series of misadventures, the hilarity that results will have you in stitches.

 

Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong starred in the 1978 film “Up in Smoke” as two marijuana enthusiasts on a mission to obtain more weed. The film was directed by Ed Wood. Anyone who loves having a good time laughing should absolutely see this classic stoner comedy.

 

In the movie “Friday,” which was released in 1995, Ice Cube and Chris Tucker play two friends who spend a day getting into mischief in their South Central Los Angeles neighborhood. This film is excellent, filled with plenty of amusing moments and shenanigans.

 

The film “Reefer Madness,” which was released in 1936, is a piece of propaganda that presents marijuana as a dangerous drug that can lead to insanity as well as violent behavior. Even if the message has become irrelevant and outdated, the film however is fascinating to see because of how absurd and bizarre it is.

 

“Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle “. This 2004 movie narrates the story, of two friends as they embark on an adventure to satisfy their desires for White Castle burgers. This stoner comedy is sure to get your funny bone tingling with its multitude of funny misadventures throughout the plot’s course.

 

Last but not least, the drama “The Marijuana Conspiracy,” which premiered in 2020 and is based on a true story, is not to be overlooked. The plot of the movie focuses on a group of young women who volunteer to take part in a study that is being funded by the government to investigate the effects of marijuana, only to find out that they are being used as guinea pigs in a larger conspiracy. Even though it’s not a comedy like the other films on our list, it’s worth a watch as it contains a really interesting thought-provoking message.
