Romantic Edibles for Valentines Day: Part 1

Romantic Edibles for Valentines Day Part 1

Romantic Edibles for Valentines Day Part 1

So we are coming up to the end of January and it’s time to maybe start thinking about what you are going to give to your significant other, or yourself, or you’re not thinking about it because you don’t do Valentines day. If that’s the case I’m not sure why you’re reading this article but welcome. It’s easy to just go out and buy flowers or chocolates or some sort of violently small outfit, but if your partner likes to get high I have a better idea. Although honestly these can still go well with the violently small outfit. Really you can get as inventive as you like with your gifts, but today we will look at some fun twists on Valentines classics.

Ever made your own chocolate? I can’t imagine it’s that difficult. Let’s have a go at it.

Valentines Day Chocolate Box

Before we get started you will need to buy some chocolate moulds which are super plentiful online. You can get all sorts of shapes from your traditional hearts to…well just whatever you find romantic.

It’s actually shockingly easy to make your cannabis infused chocolate, the first thing you will need to do is make yourself some cannabis butter. We haven’t been through the process for a while so let’s do a quick overview.

Get yourself about half an ounce of weed and grind it up, make sure it’s not too fine. You want to preheat your oven to about 104 degrees celsius. Get yourself a glass oven dish or if you like you can just use an oven tray. Spread your ground weed out onto the dish or tray and whack it in the middle of the oven for about 40 minutes. Keep an eye on it to make sure it’s not burning, cheaper weed might decarboxylate faster. Look out for a deep brown-green colour.

Now to combine it with the butter you’ll need to put a pot on a medium heat with 1 ½ cups of water and 8 ounces of butter. When that’s lovely and melted you can add your decarboxylated weed, give it a stir then cover it. Keep the heat steady and let the mixture simmer for about 4 hours. Grab your cheesecloth and pour the mixture through it into a container. Let it all cool before you start pouring. Once it’s at room temp we can move to the next stage.

The easiest way to do this is with melting chocolate, because tempering chocolate is surprisingly difficult. Or not surprisingly if you know anything about tempering chocolate. This does also mean your chocolate won’t be super shiny and fancy like shop bought, but it’ll be delicious, in a pretty shape, and it’ll get you high so I’m sure your partner will be fine with it.

First you need to make yourself a little bain marie, or a bottom boiler but that’s a stupid name, to melt your chocolate in. Throw in your melting chocolate and a good chunk of your cannabutter. Let it all melt together, stir it up and then pour it into your chocolate mould to set. It might be fun to get some pretty foil to wrap them in or maybe make a little heart shaped box, go really classic with it. Especially fun since they are non-traditional chocolates. What’s more romantic than a commentary on traditional values especially since the original era of the chocolates in a heart box was full of secret drug taking.

Sexy Gummies

Ok hear me out, gummies but get a sexy mould. It is possible I checked, a lot of them are lips and so on but there are a fair few penis moulds on the market, if that seems like something your partner would like. Honestly you can make them any shape you want, there are thousands of gummy moulds online to choose from. I would suggest silicone so you can get the gummies out at the end.

All you’ll need for this recipe is:

  • Gelatin (or veggie/vegan alternative)
  • Cannabutter (or tincture if you prefer)
  • Fruit Juice
  • Honey

There are loads of recipes but this is my favourite since it doesn’t use artificial flavouring.

First you want to get about a cup and a half of your chosen fruit juice and pour it into a medium pot over a low to medium heat. You don’t want your juice to boil but you do need it to be decently warm.

Then you are going to plop in around a quarter cup of cannabutter (or as many drops of tincture as you normally enjoy), obviously more if you want them to be more powerful. Give that a nice stir until it’s all mixed with the juice.

Now grab your gelatine or veggie alternative and whisk it into your warm butter juice nice and slowly. Whisk until there are absolutely no bits left in your concoction. At this stage you just check your concoction and if it isn’t sweet enough for your sweetheart (I know I hear it shut up I’m just as disappointed in me as you are) then add some honey.

Now get your fun sexy mould or whatever you’ve chosen and very carefully transfer your mixture into the mould. Gelatine makes the mixture super tricky to deal with so if you like you can use a dropper to fill the moulds so you don’t waste a drop.

Cover them up and pop them in the fridge. They only need about 5 hours but honestly I would just leave them overnight to be safe especially because they have the fat of the butter in them.

Again it can be fun to put your gummies in a cute container or pretty wrapping. Maybe one of those sheer pretty bag things that tie up with ribbon? I don’t know, I won’t tell you how to express yourself.

As usually happens with recipe blogs I’m going to need a part two to cover all of my bases. Next time we will make some special message cupcakes and maybe some heart shaped lollipops.
