best strains for dealing with grief

Grief comes in many forms, and everyone deals with it differently. This could be grief over a lost loved one, a lost way of life, a lost relationship, no matter what it can be one of the most difficult experiences. There are so many ways to manage grief, and all of them are valid. Whether you just want to shut yourself off for a while, immerse yourself in productivity, rest and relax, or go out and have as much fun as possible. Luckily there are strains that cover all of the varied and turbulent emotions that grief can throw at us. It can be a little difficult to find the perfect strain, but that’s what this list is for.

Green Crack

For those who are looking for some help being optimistic and continuing to function, Green Crack is a good bet. Many of us lose all of our energy when something is taken from us. It is easy to collapse into nothingness and just let the world flitter around us at twice its normal speed. Unfortunately, that is the exact issue, often the world won’t stop for us. Green Crack is a powerful Sativa dominant hybrid that provides a clean, clear and almost motivational high. It has a THC level of around 20% so can be pretty powerful. She also doesn’t need to be used to do anything stressful. Maybe you feel like you’d benefit from a walk in the sun but you just can’t muster the energy to move. Green Crack can be beneficial in a wide variety of ways. It has a wonderfully sweet yet citrusy flavour and produces dense, resin-covered buds. She has a flowering time of 58 – 65 days and can be grown indoors or outdoors.

Dream Lotus

Sometimes when something traumatic happens our brain can go into survival mode. This means it is extremely difficult to relax and recover. Our mind is dashing around trying to find a place to manifest the feelings of unease and fear that sudden change brings. Dream Lotus is just as relaxing as it sounds, providing relief from brain static and allowing you to take a moment to recover. You might be able to snuggle on the couch with a book, have a soothing bath, go for a slow walk, whatever self care you were unable to enjoy due to the constant mental buzzing. Medicinally it is usually recommended for stress, anxiety and depression. All of which you are likely going to deal with. The buds are extremely dense and covered in a thick layer of resin. She is quite easy to grow and will reward growers with impressive yields. She has a flowering time of 63 days and can be grown indoors or outdoors.

Girl Scout Cookies

GSC is another strain that provides an uplifting and cerebral effect. She also throws in a little bit of energy to help you get up and out of bed. Even if it’s just so you can go to the couch to watch a film. She is a very powerful strain with a THC level of around 28% and a CBD level of 1 – 5%. Medicinally this is another strain that is often recommended to those suffering from stress and depression. Though she is energetic she is also relaxing and will definitely help soften some of those spikey pent up emotions. Recovery takes a lot longer if your body is not physically able to heal. Rest is vital but can be almost impossible when dealing with grief. If you are an artist this strain may help you release your feelings through a creative medium. That is something that I always find to be extremely helpful. Girl Scout Cookies was created by crossing Durban Poison, OG Kush and Cherry Kush. She has a flowering time of 55 – 60 days and can be grown indoors.

Night Nurse

One of the strange things that grief can do to us is stop us from sleeping. Even when it saps every ounce of energy, it still won’t let us fall into a deep sleep. Without a real rest, we just get more and more exhausted, often having stress dreams and nightmares about the cause of our grief. As you may have guessed, Night Nurse was specifically designed to help with sleep issues. She is a powerful, relaxing and long-lasting sedative. Usually, she is recommended to anyone suffering from insomnia, depression, PTSD, pain or lack of appetite. Being driven to eat can also be very important during difficult times. Some of us will definitely forget to eat properly. However, Night Nurse will primarily send you into a deep and comfortable sleep. Letting you wake up fully rested and ready to deal with the days as they come. Her THC level is around 26% so she can be a bit powerful for beginners. She has a flowering time of 8 – 9 weeks and can be grown indoors.

Critical Mass

Critical Mass is a cerebral and physical strain that will dull the constant noise. It will let your brain switch off for a little while and have a break from the consistent droning of anxiety and depression. It is a perfect strain to comfort anyone experiencing loss or pain. She is often recommended as a medicinal strain for a wide range of ailments and should cover most of the grief bases. An excellent all-purpose strain for general sadness and anguish. She has a THC level of 22% so is nice and strong without being brutally overwhelming. She is easy to grow, well known for her ability to deal with difficult growing conditions. She will also produce fantastic yields of dense and resinous buds. She was bred from a crossing of two iconic strains, Afghani and Skunk #1. Her flowering time usually sits at around 65 – 70 days and she will grow well indoors or outdoors.

No matter what you are going through, no matter how hard it is, you will get to the other side. I’m proud of you and I know you can keep going.
