Food and Drink - Cannabis Recipes

The Cannabis plant is so diverse in many ways from its medical benefits, to it’s therapeutic and so on. Likewise, in how we consume the plant we can smoke it or in some cases, eat it by infusing it in our food and drink.

As Cannabis becomes more socially acceptable and as laws loosen all over the world, a new range of cannabis-infused products are hitting the shelves.

In this post, we will look at some of the best recipes we’ve found from our travels across the web. We’ve not tried them, so don’t blame us if you don’t like them, but we have chosen reputable websites to send you to, so things should be ok for you. Cannabis Infused Mac and Cheese

So for us, this sounds like the tastiest recipe so far. I mean who doesn’t love Mac n Cheese. Ok, some of you might not for various reasons, but for those who do, you need to read this! Before clicking through for the recipe, we should take this piece of advice on board;

‘’Cannabis binds nicely with food that’s high in fat, but it’s important for everyone to pace themselves when consuming edibles. Be aware that cannabis strains vary in THC and CBD levels depending on where they’re grown and purchased, so be sure to know your product well before using and be mindful of your metabolism. Always wait 30 minutes to 2 hours after eating to see if you feel anything. Enjoy responsibly.’’

Sensible advice to adhere to when it comes to edibles in any way shape or form. Now, click here to read how to put it together via The Daily Meal website.

8 – Cannabutter via Leafly

Cannabutter

To make any of the above come to fruition, you’re going to need some Cannabutter. In this post from Leafly you’ll learn how to go about making it. Here is an excerpt to get you started:

  1. Decarb the cannabis. Preheat your oven to 245ºF. Place cannabis buds on a non-stick, oven-safe tray. Cover the tray with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Insert the tray into the oven and set a timer for 30-40 minutes. Older, drier cannabis may require less time. (Tip: you can also set your oven to 300ºF and heat for 10 to 18 minutes, although low-and-slow is the recommended approach when decarbing to better preserve the cannabinoids.) Every 10 minutes, gently mix the buds with a light shake of the tray to expose the surface area of the buds equally.
  2. Grind the decarboxylated cannabis coarsely with a hand grinder.
  3. Melt the butter. Add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of butter into a stock pot or saucepan. Simmer on low and let the butter melt. Adding water helps to regulate the temperature and prevents the butter from scorching.
  4. Add the cannabis. As the butter begins to melt, add in your coarsely ground cannabis product.
  5. Maintain low heat (ideally above 160ºF but never exceeding 200ºF) and let the mixture simmer for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally. The mixture should never come to a full boil.
  6. Strain the cannabutter. Set a funnel on top of a jar and line it with cheesecloth. Once the butter has cooled off, pour it over the cheesecloth funnel and allow it to strain freely. (Tip: Squeezing the cheesecloth may push more bad-tasting plant material through).
  7. Refrigerate the jar of butter. If excess water forms at the bottom of the jar, you can remove the solid butter with a knife and drain the water out. (The butter will need to refrigerate for about an hour before removing the water.)
  8. Dose carefully. Refer to dosing information below before adding your butter to any snacks, dishes, or desserts.

Summary

It’s been hard writing this on a half empty stomach, but we got there. We hope this post has given you some impetus to get your hands dirty, well rather sticky, if you go for the honey option at least. We’d love to see your efforts so if you do try any of the above or have ideas of your own, drop them in comments!
