Soma Seeds is a delightfully earthy and relaxed brand, based in Amsterdam, which has been going since the early 70s. This was when the owner, Soma, first realised the positive effect he could have on the planet by growing his own marijuana organically. He seems like a lovely, laid back chap who really cares about his seeds and his customers.
He certainly has one of the nicest websites that I have ever visited.
Not only is there a good section concerning where the company came from with a nice little organic growing tutorial, but also a wonderfully whimsical catalogue.
The catalogue lists their blends, a little chart helping a customer to choose the right strain for them, and an excellent list of bests. The best strains for relaxing, adventuring, creativity, sex, socializing, you name it. I think this is a delightful way to list the strains and shows how much he cares about his customer's satisfaction.
Soma has also won quite a few awards so it is clear that the quality is there to back up this delightful brand.
Soma supplies a range of seeds including the much underestimated regular seed.
Regular seeds are typically used by old school or traditionalist growers. Many people these days prefer the genetically altered varieties but they do not suit everyone. For example if someone wished to breed their own seeds regular seeds are the best way to go. They produce an equal split of male and female plants making the whole fertilisation thing a lot easier. This also means that it is possible to select the best plants for the job; a seed will inherit the best traits from each parent so it is important to choose wisely. It is also true that the genetics necessary for auto flowering or feminised seeds can weaken a strain, for medical marijuana it is usually best to use regular seeds to avoid losing any potency.
Please remember that the growing of cannabis plants and the cultivation of seeds is illegal in some countries – please check the laws of your country and don’t be growing any plants if it is against your country’s laws.
