Cannabiogen are a brand which has one simple goal, to maintain the widely varied gene pool of the cannabis plant. Cannabis comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, Cannabiogen therefore travel the world in order to find the finest and rarest strains. Many of these rare, old, pure strains are starting to die out because there is no one willing to find them and look after them. This is partly because of the illegal aspect of growing cannabis, however Cannabiogen intend to breed and sell these strains as collectors’ items. Thus when cannabis is again legal to grow these strains will not be lost to the world. They have travelled from the mountains of Jamaica and Columbia to India, Thailand, and Pakistan rooting out these strains. They then spend years hand picking specimens, testing them, and breeding them to ensure purity, quality, and perfection.
Their website has a vast catalogue of all of their seeds as well as information on their preferred method of growing including climate and area. This, of course, is also merely a precaution for the future, not an encouragement to break the law.
Their catalogue is split into sections regarding the type of seed; one of these sections is full of feminised seeds.
Feminised seeds took off like a rocket as soon as they came onto the market. They are genetically altered so that they only produce female plants. To many, who had no need for the male plant, this was quite the revelation. Male plants, if they are not needed for breeding, simply take up time, space, and money that could be used on the far more useful female plant. Breeding only females creates a far more efficient crop with a much higher yield. While it is true that the easiest way to breed more seeds is to use male and female plants it is not the only way.
It is a little trickier but a female plant, if treated just right, can produce a small amount of male flowers. This means all of the baby making ingredients with none of the space wasting. The female plants can then be fertilised and produce a harvest of seeds which are said to have a higher level of potency and uniformity.
Please remember that the growing of cannabis plants and the cultivation of seeds is illegal in some countries – please check the laws of your country and don’t be growing any plants if it is against your country’s laws.
