To many, who had no need for the male plant, this was quite the revelation. Male plants, if they are not needed for breeding, simply take up time, space, and money that could be used on the far more useful female plant. Breeding only females creates a far more efficient crop with a much higher yield. While it is true that the easiest way to breed more seeds is to use male and female plants it is not the only way.
