Their brief this time was to create the speediest, most badass, easy-to-use and reliable mobile seeds site possible with today’s technology: After all, with smartphone use at an all-time high and an increasing amount of our buddies out there choosing to browse our site while on the move, it makes perfect sense to produce an optimised version.

With the testing phase complete, we’ve launched our brand new mobile site: So you can now see it in action for yourself!

In order to produce a superb user-experience, our developers have spent a lot of time testing the loading times and tweaking the site design, so that the mobile version looks and performs at an optimum level, regardless of how big or small your screen might be.

 

The Vault’s mobile site has been simplified from the main desktop version:  By choosing to load up only the most vital components, it is possible to make the best use of the smaller screen sizes that our users will be viewing the site on.  Thanks to this approach, the overall experience of using the mobile site is slick, smooth and effortless, so you can wave goodbye to annoying screen pinching to zoom in, say ta-ta to tricky navigation and usher in a new era of seed shopping on all of your favourite mobile devices.

It is now quicker and easier than ever before to browse and buy our seeds

When you browse through our massive selection of products on your mobile, you’ll notice that we’ve added in a function to directly select the number of seeds you need and add them to your basket – without having to load up a separate product page: Just make your selection with the drop-down box and tap the big green ‘buy’ button: The seeds will be waiting in your basket, ready for checkout once you’ve finished your shopping session.

By cutting out the need to load up individual product pages one at a time before adding seeds to the basket, we’ve removed an extra step out of your shopping experience, meaning that you’ll have more time to browse seeds instead of waiting for pages to load.

Of course, we still have the option to view the individual product details, should you wish to access them: This is nice and easy to do, using the impossible-to-miss big black ‘view product’ buttons, or by tapping the product names / thumbnail images.

 

The need for speed

One of the primary goals for our new mobile website was to ensure that each and every page and product loads as quickly as possible: After all, if you are out and about, it might not always be possible to get access to a speedy Wi-Fi network – and as a result, your mobile browser might feel as if its gears have been gummed up with treacle.

By using some clever coding techniques and by trimming off excess fat, our mobile site has been moulded into a lean, mean, seed-slinging machine which will allow you to easily navigate through our full range of products, read up on all of the important details about each strain and quickly complete the checkout process without so much as a stutter, regardless of your preferred device.

One example of this blistering speed can be seen when you scroll through a category of products or a search result:

• Our site loads up the first batch of products, which you can easily scroll through – when you get to the bottom of the list, a ‘load more’ button loads the next batch in.
• This staggered approach means that you can start browsing seeds much quicker than if you had to wait for all of the products to load up at once.
• This technique also reduces the amount of navigation required to get around the site: Just pick your category or perform a search: Then all you have to do is scroll down, and load in more products as required.
